Address and phone number in application form (EU -> USA)
I'm from Europe and want to move to the USA. After browsing Google and Reddit I think I have find a way to immigrate that won't require company sponsorship (if everything works out as planned so definitely not guaranteed - but I can still spend a full year without sponsorship for sure).
I've been applying to jobs for a couple of months but don't know how transparent I should be. Some application forms ask for phone number and I always put my own in case they want to call. Some even ask for a full adress (street, county, zip code). What should I write down? Should I put a friend's home adress? A random adress?
Same goes with the phone number, if they see a foreign phone number but sponsorship box unticked will that make raise an eyebrow an yeet my application? Can I just say that I have been travelling and been only using my European phone number (I don't have a US one) bc it's summertime?
When do you usually come clean about being abroad?
I believe there are almost always solutions or workarounds to administrative issues (as long as you're well informed about the rules and options available & have seen that first hand with friends both in the US and the UK). I'd like them to assess my profile on it's own merit and give a fair chance and not make assumptions too early on but at the same time I want to be transparent because I want them to know they can trust me.
Curious do know if others can across the same struggles and what you did and if it worked out for you.
