Hi all, I'm in my 3rd year majoring in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Heard that it's possible to go straight to doing a PhD after finishing my degree. Looking for inputs from people that have done so before, maybe in different majors too.

What are the requirements, is it WAM-based, or research?

How do I get into research?

How do I apply for the PhD program and are there many scholarships?

Greatly appreciate any comments!

On a side note, would you say it is more worthwhile going into academia or industry as an electrical engineer in the Melbourne area now? I am still really on the fence and running out of time. I need to source a placement for my WIL soon too, wondering if that could be at a research facility?
