How do you position/stop dying as support?
Sliver 1 peak. I mainly play enchanters and mage supports, but I feel like half my deaths come from being out of position without realizing it until it’s too late. Sometimes I walk up too far to ward, get caught before objectives, or stand too close during team fights and instantly get focused.
I know supports are supposed to create vision and help engage/peel, but I struggle knowing HOW close I should actually be standing depending on the situation.
Some things I struggle with:
- Positioning during lane phase vs poke lanes
- Not dying while warding mid/late game
- Team fight positioning as enchanter vs mage support
- Knowing when to follow teammates vs letting them int alone
- Getting caught rotating through jungle
What helped you improve positioning the most?
Was it map awareness, watching cooldowns, camera control, spacing, etc.?
Any tips, videos, habits, or mindset changes that helped you die less as support would be appreciated.
