This is my 7th stone and my first time cutting corundum. I was surprised by how fast it cuts and polishes despite it's hardness. I expected to be working for weeks, but finished it in just 3 (long) evenings.

At 2.15ct it came out a bit smaller than I planned, but it came off the dop once, lost quite a bit of material because I couldn't get it on in the exact same way.

The sparkle is way more than I expected as well, in this light it almost looks like it's on fire.

I've been working on this spinel on and off for the past few weeks. And even after all that it appears I still missed some minor scratches on the pavilion 😔

Still I'm quite pleased with the result.
