Feedback on my solar/power set up before I start buying stuff
Slowly converting a 2017 Ford Transit 350 Passenger Van, long body, short butt. Last summer we got away with a Jackery 500 unit to power our Igloo/Dometic ICF 80DZ fridge (thanks Costco). We'd keep the fridge plugged into the vans 12V while driving, and then switched it over to the Jackery when we arrived wherever we were. Usually got us comfortably through the night and were able to at least hold on to the charge with the panel during the day or recharge the Jackery while driving.
Making the jump to a permanent solar panel set up on the roof, and a bigger Jackery. This is the current plan and hardware, I'd welcome any feedback or suggestions.
Panels:
- 2 x Renogy 100W link
Wiring/Etc:
- Parallel Adapter Cable to run panels in parallel link
- DC 8MM adapter cable between panels and Jackery unit link
- Weatherproof entry gland link
Power Unit
- Jackery Explorer 1500 or 2000 link
As of right now the Dometic is our only real power draw other than phone charging. Might eventually do an exterior shower.
Am I missing anything? Will this work? I'm pretty un-handy, but this seems like something I can handle, unless of course I'm over-looking something major.
Thank you!
EDIT: This is not a van we are living in, but rather using for family camping trips, mostly long weekends but we do have an upcoming 10 day road trip.
