S2, E6 - Thor's Chariot

Wife puts this on & this time around I can't help noticing how good the extras are.

From Gerwin & the other norse to Heru'ur to the jaffa who announces the surrender terms to SG-1 across an open field with a damned good battlefield voice & great pronunciation.

Seriously, the main cast always gets a lot of love. The extras in this episode were stellar, and just wanted to give respect where it is (over)due.

Trouble With Tribbles - Was James "TOS" Kirk actually a good captain?

In the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", aside from the delightful hijinks of a Klingon linguist imitate a Scottish brogue he could not have heard before in his life...

...we also see the captain of the flagship of the fleet be intensely disrespectful and even borderline disobedient in his interactions with someone who, per Spock, has all of the official authority to give the orders he's giving.

The episode makes Kirk out as an accidental hero - an actual buffoon who is constantly a step behind everything that's happening until the tribble's fear of Klingons yielded him a defense...

Not an excuse?

From a strictly military standpoint, Kirk's behavior as a captain was terrible. His failure to adequately protect the grain resulted in it being consumed by tribbles, and it was only blind luck that it was poisoned.

Is it possible James was... a bad captain?

FortNite's Amateur Leadership

So... let's have a conversation about the leadership of Epic Games, and the kinds of decisions that seem to keep getting made.

We have a company using slot-machine style programming to drive dopamine-reward triggers in kids - the "Addictive Gaming Model".

Can't argue the game is aimed at adults when skibidi toilet & 6-7 were recently included, so... targeting kids.

Timmy S., who owns enough of Epic that he dictates what happens, has steadily lost money so consistently that they laid off a significant percentage of their workforce in an unexpected, unprofessional method which forced the company into damage control PR after the fired a terminally ill employee & cut his insurance.

Timmy S. spends his time arguing with people online instead of actually solving the problems afflicting the game or the company.

A "professional" is someone who makes money doing something.

Timmy S. is, by definition, now an amateur - maybe he was good in the last millennium, and those days are clearly long gone.

Now, maybe I'm wrong - maybe every single critic the current choices is just missing a bet.

What do you think about the direction FortNite has been going for the last six months?

Let's talk about the direction this free game that keeps nagging us for money is heading.

Re: The Tollan

I get that the Tollan didn't want to share their weapons tech with less advanced races. I'm even on board with that.

Why didn't the SGC ask for the harness tech that identifies when a host or a symbiote is in control?

No aggressive use, and it might've been really helpful when dealing with the Tok'Ra, other Goa'uld, et cetera.

I think the Tollan would've gone for that.

"I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think?"
