Yoshi and the mysterious book plays better than it reviews.

just finished getting the second credits and was surprised when even more content opened up.

I don’t think the structure of this game works well in a review scenario. The basic challenges of each level are easy to finish and the game rolls credits at 50% of the way through. I’m convinced a bunch of review sites scored the game this way. that would be like playing breath of the wild and going straight to the castle and reviewing the game that way.

but the creature designs get better after first credits. and if you actually engage with the systems and try to get something like every flower its actually a very engaging and deep puzzle platformer

the back half has some of the most interesting content I’ve seen in a game all year. and the game plays like a 2d collectathon.

still have 2 more worlds to go but it legitimately might be my favorite game of the year so far
