Can I start writing/composing custom music for some extra cash?

I’m 15 turning 16 at the end of this week and wanna start saving up for a cheap car by myself (my parents want to help me a little, but we’re nowhere near rich and I want that feeling of independence).

I’m working part time at a skating rink and it pays pretty decently, but I was wondering if I should start writing custom music for people as a side gig. I’m pretty decent at orchestration and have a decent amount of info on music theory, as I’ve been writing/arranging music on my own for a while.

Is it even really worth it in my situation? I’d still have to figure out how much to charge, find somewhere to start taking requests, etc. You guys have any tips? (especially for what composing software I could use)

I can write for wind band, marching band (including drumline/front ensemble), and probably wind/percussion chamber groups. I don’t know too much about writing for orchestra, and I’m pretty bad at piano (I’m great at mallet instruments though).

I can post some of my music if you guys want some examples I guess but I’m still working on my composition skills.

Are people inclusive/nice here?

I’m currently entering my junior year of high school, but I’m really leaning towards graduating a year early next spring.

I was thinking about applying to APP State but wanted to know if I would be excluded or ostracized for being too young. I’ll be a 17 yr old Muslim when I graduate high school, so I won’t be able to enter any bars or drink.

One of the main reasons I don’t want to graduate early is because I think I’ll be too young to make any legit friends or hang out at parties and stuff.

Will this actually happen or are there people like me and I’m just worrying too much? (open to any other questions/advice)

Should I graduate as a junior? (PLEASE READ/VOTE)

PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS POST AND GIVE SOME INPUT (or at least vote in the poll at the end, both would be appreciated). I have to make this decision SOON and need some advice.

Hey, I just finished my sophomore year of high school right now and I’m honestly 50/50 on whether I want to graduate as a junior or stay until my senior year.

I’m pretty conflicted because some of my closest friends are rising seniors, I don’t talk to most of the other rising juniors outside of school, and I don’t want to just be alone my senior year (I’m pretty introverted unless I’m close with someone or pretending to be chill). I have a few friends in my grade that I’m really chill with and think I have some potential to become pretty close with them, but I honestly don’t know.

On the paperwork it asks for the reason I want to graduate early. I feel like I need a more legitimate reason other than what I just explained or me wanting to get ahead on college, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I’ve heard some people say that I might not have as many friends in college due to me being younger (late birthday + early grad = 1-2 yrs younger than everyone else) but I’m already Muslim and don’t find any interest in smoking/drinking.

I know everyone says you shouldn’t take the “high school experience” for granted, but I’d honestly rather not spend my senior year constantly remembering that my best friend/closest companions are in college while I’m stuck in high school (especially if I end up not really becoming close with my friends in my grade). I can handle the pressure as long as I have good friends around me, and am willing to make this work if I have to.

Has anyone else on this subreddit been in a similar situation? I just kinda want advice or the pros and cons of graduating early as a junior/staying all four years of high school (I have made a post about this in the past but it didn’t really get much attention).

Now it would be an absolute miracle if I could graduate next year and go to the same college as one of my closest friends (we’d both graduate next year if I go through with this). But I know that’s probably not likely to happen, and just wanna get into a decent college near me without going into loan debt (possibly a full ride if I can figure out how to, but that’d probably also require a miracle).

Uhh anyways thanks that’s probably all I’ll add on to this post eventually if remember anything extra, but PLEASE MAKE SURE TO VOTE in this poll. (sorry for making you guys listen to my rant).

Junior year classes

Hey I know I’m a little late to this (most people in my grade posted their upcoming classes a few months ago) but I was wondering if anyone could give me some input on the classes I’m planning to take my junior year.

I have a photo of an example schedule attached too because my school is on some sort of weird mixed block schedule😑

Any advice/tips for next year would be appreciated as well, as I want to focus on doing as good as possible academically without burnout and while still balancing extracurriculars.
