Fitness
Hey guys! This is probably only relevant to the latest episode but I feel like the question of fitness and trying to stay in shape keeps coming up every now and then especially in the latest episode when talking about Brendan Fraser getting in shape for the new mummy movie and I just wanted to share my input on it as well and help if you guys do happen to read this. :)
Fitness isn’t any crazy diet or a specific workout plan or even any supplements, although unless you have a deficiency in a vitamin or mineral that can help things, creatine is probably the only supplement worth taking ever. It’s cheap, easy, and the most studied supplement that actually works, also the brain benefits from it make it even better from a health perspective.
Also anyone can change their physique and look and feel way better and stronger with a couple of full body strength training days a week and hitting your protein targets. As long as your as consistent as you can be you will make a big change, also eating enough calories to help you build muscle is a bit thing too, it doesn’t have to be crazy force feeding but it’s like builders being on a construction site with no materials.
As long as you’re getting stronger week to week you’re pretty much on the right track, try get as much sleep as possible (kids make that hard but every little bit counts) but just try to be as consistent as possible and that will beat a lot of other fads and trends. Pick the protein goal of the body weight you want to be for example if I wanted to stay where I am at 70kg I would keep eating about 160g of protein everyday. Eat whole foods and minimise the processed stuff and don’t put so much pressure on yourselves for being perfect either. Life happens stuff gets in the way and people get busy, just try do it when you can.
The podcast Mindpump has some really good programs, even ones that are just 15 minutes a day for busy people especially parents that don’t have a lot of time and they give fantastic advice as well and most of their programs have a “at home” version that pretty much only needs a set of dumbbells and a bench and your sorted. Also cardio is important but doing too much can take the focus away from building muscle which is the metabolism boosting effect everyone wants.
Sorry for rambling a bit I just get a bit triggered when movie stars training regimes come into the spotlight when they’re really just doing these things but the routine gets highlighted and glorified for no reason and misleads people. I hope this helps! If anyone has any questions about anything I’m happy to help out!
Happy lifting! 🤘🏻
