Doomed by the Concept of Progressive Overload

Can someone please clarify how to apply progressive overload correctly? I am always confused about when to increase the weight and when to stick with it. For example, if I bench press 60 kg for 4 sets and get 8, 6, 5, and 4 reps, should I stay at this weight or decrease it? Alternatively, once I can successfully hit 8 reps across all 4 sets, is that the exact moment to increase the weight?
