Bittersweet ending.

As one of the early US Hyundai IONIQ 5 (2022 Limited) adopters, this one genuinely disappoints me.

I absolutely loved the car at first — the design, comfort, ride quality, interior space, and overall EV experience felt incredibly modern and ahead of its time. For a while, it was easily my favorite car I’ve owned.

Unfortunately, repeated ICCU / 12V related issues and a very long repair process ultimately led me to part ways with Hyundai — at least for now.

To be fair, I do think the underlying product issues will improve over time as technology improves. What really pushed me over the edge wasn’t just the hardware problems themselves, but the dealership experience surrounding them. Between the awful rental policies even when the vehicle clearly had ICCU-related issues, apathetic communication, and service departments that often seemed overwhelmed or undertrained for EV troubleshooting, the ownership experience became exhausting.

I still think the IONIQ 5 is one of the best-looking and most affordable/comfortable EVs on the road… very unfortunate overall experience didn’t live up to the product in the long run.
