How did early Zionist leaders thought of technology and mechanization?
Today, Israeli figures claim Israel is a hub of technological innovation, a “start-up nation”. This use of technology in the service of a political ideology echos similar notions of Zionist self reliance, claims the state “makes the desert bloom”, inserts modernity into its region, and enables Jewish self emancipation. How then did Zionist thinkers, from both the left and right, saw the role technology plays in the Zionist undertaking?
