Curious about Islam
Context: I was born and raised Catholic but never actually looked into it to understand the religion until recently. I have been reading the Bible and noticed I don’t quite agree with the holy trinity and Jesus being the son of god that was divine which is a huge factor for Christianity. I was looking into Islam because the beliefs revolving around Jesus being a messenger along with there being only one holy book is more aligning and reliable to me. Is there any tips or resources to learn /understand the Quran? My main concern is not completely being able to understand the message along with hearing several misconceptions about Islam which makes me more iffy about the religion in which I don’t understand. For instance, why are women not allowed to marry a non Muslim but men are? (As long they’re not polytheist), second Muhammad marrying Aisha, third the verse 4:34 where it says “strike them” for women. I have been surrounded by Islamophobic people growing up. So I want to learn the religion from a fresh perspective and not what I see on media or hear from non Muslims. These are questions I have i would appreciate if someone can help me out with this.
