I haven’t read the current (2025 Vol.7 issue 1) run of Amazing Spidey so no clue who this guy was when he popped up. “Who in the funk is this guy” is not what you want your first reaction to be when pulling a super. They can’t all be winners….
There’s freaking 200+ days left. Short of death or coma, no one had a chance of “missing” that theyre available. Reduce the leggos to /99, /25 and /1, the time available to 1 month and increase the drop rates on crystal packs.
Don’t forget….the same thing that happened last year is about to happen again….very soon will be Mint and the whole gaggle of legendarys (that apparently aren’t worth selling or trading outside of their own sets unless they’re numbered to /10 or less) drops again like a ton of literal bricks. I’m sure we’ll get plenty of text alerts so we don’t miss them though.

It’s having an entire year of seeing what the first Chrome did on the digital collecting and selling market. It’s the realization that unless you’re hitting /10 or under (and let’s be fair, in most cases /5 or /1) you haven’t hit anything that moves the needle. It’s seeing that basically outside of those /5s and /1s you can’t trade or move them for anything significant outside of a similar card from the same set. And despite that….theres a reasonable chance that 100x the $1,000 VIP will be hit when it drops. Theyre recycling images as hard as they can go. Theyre not even doing app exclusive sets (like Heroines) without recycling. Magik was a great Artgerm piece they used for awards and /5 and /1s. It would have been a lot cooler if it hadn’t already been released as a 2023 award. I’m honest with myself…I’ll throw out a $20 and take a shot (heads up to all the Infinity stone collectors….after they give out those 100k diamonds…there’s an absolute BEAT DOWN of an algorithm coming after. Smart money sits out the first “big” drop imo) but I’m not dropping hundreds on Chrome digitally. We vote with our wallets….nothing changes if they’re shown nothing needs to change on their end…..(Plus I’ve got friends in place to get me Upper Deck Absolute Batman packs from SDCC and I’ll be CRACKING those when they’re released.)
For the same reason I thought it was neat they put those actors in the movie…they played Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm in Roger Cormans ill fated, never released 1994 FF movie. You’ve got to be a comics nerd of a certain vintage (old lol) to remember when this happened. Here’s a quick breakdown…..
The 1994 Fantastic Four film, produced by legendary B-movie king Roger Corman, is one of Hollywood's most notorious "lost" movies. It was never officially released. The production was secretly designed as a low-budget rights-retention scheme by producer Bernd Eichinger to prevent Marvel from reclaiming the Fantastic Four's film rights.
Because Eichinger's contract with Marvel required him to start filming a movie by December 1992 or lose the rights, he hired Corman to quickly push a feature into production. Working on a shoestring budget of roughly $1 million, director Oley Sassone and a dedicated cast managed to shoot the entire film in just 25 days in late 1993.
The cast and crew actually took their jobs very seriously, hoping the movie would launch their careers. However, even before post-production was completed—and right around the time the cast was preparing for a theatrical release and press tour—the movie was suddenly pulled. Investors reportedly bought out the film, halting its distribution to prevent it from ever reaching the public.
Since the sole purpose of the production was to fulfill a contract and keep the rights from expiring, the studio (Constantin Film) got exactly what it needed without having to spend the money required for a real theatrical rollout.
I bought my VHS bootleg copy (still have it!) at a comics convention in 1996, and it remains one of my all-time favorite “so bad it’s AWESOME” movies ever. It’s great that someone on the production thought it’d be a good idea to finally get these guys a chance to be in a big FF movie all these years later.
