Ryszard Sobok case. Two mass murders in two days.
Ryszard Sobok was born on October 19, 1951 in the village of Walim, Poland. On February 11, 1981 he strangled to death his pregnant concubine Krystyna Nykiel (30) because she wanted to leave him and abort his kid. She wanted to do this because Ryszard was an alcoholic. After Krystyna's daughter Teresa Nykiel (16) saw the murder Ryszard also strangled her. He also strangled Krystyna's son Marek Nykiel (1) because as Ryszard later said during his interrogation "he didn't want Marek to die out of hunger". Ryszard he went to sleep.
On another day Ryszard went to his father's home (his father Stanisław Sobok lived there with Ryszard's younger sister and with her husband and two children: son Ireneusz (9) and daughter Anna (10)). Ryszard's sister and her husband were not present. Only his father and both of his sisters kids were present. Ryszard made himself a breakfast and went up to his father and confessed that he murdered Krystyna and her children. After the confession Stanisław grabbed a shepherd's axe and attacked Ryszard with it. Ryszard grabbed a hammer and smashed his father's head with it. Ireneusz and Anna tried to save their grandpa, but they had no chance with Ryszard. Ryszard strangled both of them.
Sobok was arrested on February 16, 1981 after attempting to enter his younger sisters home in which she and her children were present. Two police men were already present at the home, and they arrested Sobok. He did not show any resistance. Sobok had a bayonet with him.
Ryszard later said this during his interrogation: "So, I killed Krystyna Nykiel because she wanted to kill my child and drive me out... her daughter Teresa, because she saw me kill her mother and might have told someone... her son Marek, so he wouldn't suffer or starve to death if left alone... my father, because he wouldn't lend me money for food on Monday, and because of him, I had no milk or food at home... and Irek and Anka, because they lunged at me while I was beating my father..."
On June 16, 1982 Regional Court in Świdnica sentenced Ryszard Sobok to death by hanging he was also permanently deprived of his public rights. On November 21, 1981 Supreme Court of Poland upheld the sentence. His execution was carried out on March 31, 1984 in Remand Centre in Wrocław.
