Definition of beginners luck

I gave my buddy a ned rig with a senko, its his 2nd time bass fishing mind you and he basically reels the ned rig in slow like a spinner bait or something and caught two bass and popped off on two more, decent bass too! I was fishing the same exact rig except fishing it slow and twitches like everyone fishes a ned rig and didn’t get a single bite lol. Does anyone else fish a ned or texas rig like a crank bait or spinner?

You learn by fishing not researching

I’ve recently got into finesse fishing for bass and have tried wacky rig and texas rigs. I’ve done alot of research on both and now I can say research is only good for learning how to make the rigs, learning how to work the rigs is on you. For most finesse rigs everyone says “most of the time” when you get a bite its on the pause and your line will go tight and that you should finesse fish SUPER slow and slower than that. I’ve caught a good bit of fish on the wacky and most of the time it was actually during me twitching the rod. Then I dived into the texas rig and struggled for weeks until today I said screw fishing slow and basically bounced it off the bottom and maybe paused for 2 seconds and repeat. I caught one and popped off on two more and all 3 of them bit during me popping the rod almost like a power bait. So my advice is just find some basic techniques and start off fast and gradually slow down because depending of the time of the year the bass might think its weird how slow your lure is moving especially during the spring when they’re active.
