Best 24 Hour Vet?
Hello all,
I wanted to ask everyone’s opinion on a 24 hour animal hospital. We took my dog to our vet, he got some labs and an X-ray done, and then they gave us some Reccs for hospitals to take him. His liver is inflamed and he had been vomiting and peeing a bit dark. Overall he was eating and drinking fine and acting normal, but the labs came back with many different elevated levels. I called around to a few places
They told me they cannot give me an estimate upfront without seeing my dog first. Money is very tight right now, and while we’re willing to pay anything for him, we want to go with whatever place won’t bankrupt us. The X-rays and blood tests with our vet already ran us 650 dollars. Does anyone have experience in hospitalizing with fluids and such at any of these? How much did you pay? I would just rather go to whichever will have the lowest hospitalization fees, I’m more than willing to hear other options too!
Thank you very much in advance.
UPDATE:
We ended up going with VSEC in Mamaroneck. So far, so good! We took him this morning, they told us he will need to stay the night. They gave us an update and told us that thankfully, it is not cancer or an obstruction. It is pancreatitis, and they will treat with fluids, medication, and rest. Thank you very much for all of your insight in this thread! While VEG ER came highly recommended, the cost was something that was very highlighted as well. VSEC seems to be reasonably priced for now with their estimate (2200). Thanks again! Will update again when I get him back tomorrow :).
