Let's just start by saying I'm 17 and I've only worked one job so far. I worked as a salon assistant for a suite owner for 6 months and quit because I was only working once a week and I needed better options (also for other, more important reasons). I'm also in beauty school as well as high school and I go to school for 4 hours and 25 minutes total every day. My school helped me learn how to make a resume and I update it whenever I need to.

For the past maybe year or so I've been applying for retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants and yet I've either gotten one or two interviews or I haven't gotten called back at all. I always make sure to pay attention to age, and educational requirements, and I meet them all. School isn't getting in the way of that for sure. So I'm not sure what the issue is.

For the past month I have been calling 2 to 3 stores almost every day just to see if I can get an update on my application status. Usually when I call, I tell them that I'm calling for any updates on my application and they put me on hold for maybe 5 to 10 minutes and then come back and say that the hiring manager isn't available and then gives me the day or time that the hiring manager will be available. Either that or they tell me that they'll call me back when the hiring manager is available and then they ask me for my name and my phone number and then I'll hang up or they'll hang up and I will hear nothing from their end. So usually I call back first and when I call back on the day that they gave me or at the time that they gave me I either get no answer or again I'm being told that the hiring manager isn't available or that the hiring manager is there but they can't find them.

I'm not sure if it's just me but with my family situation I want to be able to save up at least until I'm about maybe 18 or 19 and be able to leave. I can't do that if I don't have any money and if I don't have any work experience. Even though I had already said before that I quit my most recent job I still have it on my résumé just to see if it would help me find job that works for me. But at this point I'm not sure what I can do anymore. I keep applying and applying and getting nothing in return.
