You Can't Win Unless You Play The Meta in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds...

Probably gonna get flak, but I don't care...

Yesterday, I hopped into some online races. I'm not very good at the game, and when I was playing, I DID get more used to it, but I was constantly getting low placements

I'm C+ in rank, so I'm not good, like I said. I wasn't winning anything, not even getting top 4 a single time... Until I switched to the "Meta" build of using Ring and Hyper Ring Engine...

I usually don't like playing the meta in any game I play, Mario Kart, Pokemon Unite, or any Fighting game, as I like to rely on Fundies(Fundamentals) to win, which works out in some cases

Not here though, I COULD NOT win ANYTHING until I used the Meta gadgets... Say "SkiLl iSsUe!!!" all you want, but I don't care, the game should be more fair imo

Why is it so punishing to people who don't know the meta?

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds... Good, Nice or Jamming?

I recently bought SRCW and I like it! I have the Switch 1 version, and it's fine enough! I've played TSR and SARTR...

THAT SAID

SRCW feels so much different than all of those, better and worse somehow

Pro

  • Good to look at, even on Switch 1(for me)
  • GREAT soundtrack, love Rainbow Garden's music
  • AMAZING first race course for understanding the game(Better than MK8's Mario Kart Stadium)
  • Vehicle customization

Con

  • Class restricted parts...
  • Non-Sonic characters present(This is a Joke, they just aren't for me)
  • Controls...

OH BOY, the controls... Fine for the most part, easy to grasp on paper, but in execution, on the other hand

I dunno, I feel like this game is less "I'm losing because of not knowing the track design and lack of skill" and more "I'm losing because I'm fighting the handling..." I've played all the other Sonic racing games, even SONIC DRIFT for god's sake. None of the recent ones(All-stars racing, Transformed and Team) have given me trouble with controls

And is it just me, or is the drifting... Inconsistent? Like... One moment, I'm finding it hard to even turn, and the next, I'm turning TOO tightly and going into a patch of grass-

Overall though, I like the game, and I'd recommend it to others... But is there any tips about those controls and how to(pun not intended) handle it better?
