I will be working as a survey technician with a non-profit conservation agency in the Asheville area this summer. My main responsibility is travelling the area to determine the impact Hurricane Helene had on our bird populations. As I live a couple hours away I am looking for suggestions and recommendations of places to park overnight in a camper van while I am working (approximately 4 nights a week from May to August). I’ve looked into campgrounds like Powhatan however they are a bit pricey. Potentially disperse camp at Wash Creek but I’d like some more options if this is full. Trying to stay as close to the Asheville area as possible. If you know of any good campsites, safe overnight parking spots, or even businesses that would allow me to park overnight please let me know. Clean and quiet, self-contained.
