I’m graduating next weekend with a different bachelors than BSW. I only realized I wanted to go into social work this year, and I plan to get my MSW. Entry level jobs are limited without a BSW, so I’m planning on working for DHS. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on appointments? I have an offer for the child abuse hotline and for family center services.
I think the hotline will offer more pay, better work/life balance, more stability but less experience and hands-on work. Family center services seems intense and likely overwhelming, but better hands on experience. I don’t really know which one to take. I don’t want to work for DHS long-term but I’m willing to put in my time for better opportunities later on. I want to work in a hospital or school setting eventually, it’s just difficult to get hired on without a social work degree or experience.
