Hi all hoping to get some insight from anyone familiar with this
I hold both US and Taiwan citizenship and completed my household registration in 2024 but never signed up for National Health Insurance or applied for the card
I will be visiting Taiwan next month for about a week and I am unsure how this situation is handled
Main questions are whether there are any unpaid premiums or penalties even if I never enrolled and whether I am expected to register for NHI during a short stay or if it can remain inactive
I am also wondering if anything comes up at immigration related to this or if it is not checked
Separately I have seen conflicting info about military service obligations for dual citizens so I am not sure if a short trip has any impact or if there are rules I should prepare for ahead of time
If anyone has gone through something similar I would really appreciate hearing what you did and what to expect
TLDR:
Dual citizen US Taiwan activated household registration in 2024 but never joined NHI planning a short visit soon trying to understand if there are any fees obligations or conscription issues to be aware of
