update on the mount for 8 inch SCT's

the counterweight shaft borrowed from a cheap equatorial mount, it works great, probably needs more weight, but that's a future problem. the control handle is a piece of 18mm steel rod. this was also first light for this telescope, the mount performed admirably, even with the wind, it held steady enough to get focused at high power.

custom mount to hold an 8 inch sct

shafts are about one inch solid steel bar. split PETG bearings to control the friction. 6 inch sections of 3 3/8 inch box section steel. screws on the mount are all metric, M8 for the adjustment and mounting screws, and M10 to hold the azimuth shaft to the tripod. I don't have the money to buy both a vixen bar and a vixen dovetail clamp, so I dealt with it my way.

solar projection

scope: ATM built 60mm f/6 quadruplet

mount: a Frankenstein of 3d printed parts, welded steel, machined brass, wood, a chain I found at a surplus store, and an old tripod from a telestar by meade (the crappy kind with a mount of doom)

sacrificial eyepiece: powerseeker 20mm kellner with a washer super glued in the barrel to protect the plastic from focused, unfiltered sunlight.

two 3d printed parts and three 5mm steel rods cut at 11 inches long as supports, printer paper as the projection screen.

this is a friction clutch that I'm planning on building a lon stroke engine for, I have a 4 speed transmission to load the engine, I just need some pieces.
