Quick context : I'm a solo dev. I built Itinerarly because I was sick of opening Google Maps + TripAdvisor + Time Out + Waze + Tiktok just to plan a 2-hour outing in my own city. By the time I had a "plan," half the afternoon was gone.
12 months later, it's live on iOS, Android and web, in 5 languages, completely free, no ads, no paywalls. I'll explain why free at the end.
Here's everything that's inside:
🗺 Mode 1 — Plan Type up to 10 addresses, the AI optimizes the order, picks the best transport mode (car / bike / walk / transit), and gives you turn-by-turn GPS without leaving the app. You can also kick out to Apple/Google Maps if you prefer.
🎧 Mode 2 — Guided Tours 37+ cities (Paris, Rome, NYC, Tokyo, Marrakech, Luxembourg, Lisbon…) with AI-generated immersive audio guides in FR/EN. Buy paid-attraction tickets directly with a redirect, free walking tours included.
💡 Mode 3 — Suggestions Tell it what you like (restaurants, halal, veggie, café, museum, sport, nature, nightlife — 45+ categories), how much time you have, where you're starting. It only returns places that are actually open at that exact moment, with Google ratings, images, website, reviews, and TikTok previews per place.
🎲 Mode 4 — Adventure (the one I'm most proud of) Pick a vibe — chill / discovery / sporty / foodie. Hit "Surprise me." The app generates a route of 2 to 7 random places around you + an AI-written narrative in the tone of your choice : mysterious, poetic, sporty, fun, romantic, chill, discovery. You get a mini-mission per stop ("order a coffee and watch the light through the window," "find the one detail in red on the façade…").
You can flip on Hardcore Mode every location stays HIDDEN until you physically arrive on site. +50 XP bonus if you make it without peeking, 15 XP per premature reveal. Most fun I've had with my own app.
Then layered on top of all 4 modes :
- XP system + 40+ badges (Explorer, Distance Walker, Photographer, Streak Master, Hidden Gem Hunter…) — each adventure earns XP, levels you up
- Daily Quest — one curated adventure per day with +XP multiplier
- AI Companion you can chat with mid-outing : "is it gonna rain?" / "I have 30 more min, what now?" / "is the tram faster?". It knows your route, replies in 2 seconds.
- Friends + leaderboard add friends, compare XP, see them climb the ranks live
- Shareable adventures via deeplink your friend can replay yours, exactly
- Adventure history with photos, stats, narrative recap of every outing
- Custom avatar -> next update

- ~250 downloads across iOS + Android
- 190 registered users
- 37 feedback DMs and emails every single one became a roadmap line
- €0 in revenue (free, no ads)
- 14k impressions on launch posts
Why free? I'm not optimizing for revenue right now. I'm optimizing for whether people actually come back. If retention is real, I'll think about premium features later (cosmetics, unlimited AI companion chats...). Right now I'd rather have someone download it, hate it, and tell me why, than pay €4.99 and ghost me.
