Tried every cleaning routine out there. None stuck. My brain doesn't do "Monday = bathrooms."
So I stopped scheduling and started sorting chores by energy level instead:
🟢 Low energy — wipe a counter, take out trash, put away 5 items 🟡 Medium — load of dishes, vacuum one room, clean bathroom sink 🔴 High energy — deep clean bathroom, mop floors, organize a closet
Feeling like trash? One green task. Done. No guilt. Got a random burst of energy at 9pm? Tackle a red.
Two other game changers:
Piggyback tasks — attach cleaning to things you already do. Brewing coffee → wipe the counter. Waiting for the microwave → put away dishes.
5-minute closing shift — before bed: trash off surfaces, dishes in dishwasher, set out tomorrow's stuff. Waking up to a clean kitchen changes everything.
Went from total chaos to actually not being embarrassed when people come over. Happy to share more about how I set it up if anyone's interested.
