Second opinion or just take the win?
Okay so to make a very long story short: In November I got TERRIBLY sick, awful GI symptoms, lost a ton of weight, lasted weeks, and never fully recovered. Just got less severe. Anyways, my primary care doctor referred me to a GI who immediately wanted me to get a colonoscopy. My blood tests were fine, but he wasn’t 100% on that because he said it can be tricky especially since I’ve never gotten this bad before, so MONTHS later I got my scopes.
My follow up appointment for the results was with the NP and it was weird to say the least. Not an ounce of the pathology report was mentioned. My doc had found stomach ulcers and mentioned it post procedure (not surprising, I’m in grad school and I can almost guarantee the stress of being sick did me in there) but the NP didn’t even mention that. Just that I was normal, nothing showed up on pathology, and I should be grateful because I’m “too young to have issues” (I’m 23 for context).
It took like ten minutes and half of it was just her reading my file in silence.
Anyways, needless to say, I actually requested my pathology reports be posted to my portal after like, two months of them being missing, and well…there was a bunch of stuff. The aforementioned stomach ulcers, esophagitis, and also chronic inflammation in my colon.
Now I’m not sure if I just take the win of “ur normal bye” or I get a second opinion. I have been really ill this week so I’m not sure if the illness is clouding my judgement, because this is all new to me and I don’t want to be nagging and annoying, because like it would be great for nothing to be wrong.
