Supplements
I’m 33 have had “irregular cycles” since I was 11. I wanted to share my supplements that after years of research, reading and losing my mind I have found incredibly impactful. For reference I used to have 3 cycles per year if any. I now consistently have 8-9 (for the last 4 years) periods per year. I do not experience PMDD just the usual PMS. I suffered greatly with PMDD, pain, period anxiety, depression, fluctuating weight, joint pain - you name it I had it and no medical professional cared.
I now have healthy ovaries, good egg quality and pretty regular cycles unless I don’t manage external stressors well or my diet is imbalanced.
Supplements I strongly recommend trying for anyone struggling like I was:
• FreeSoul’s Myo-inositol ultra (high strength) to improve insulin sensitivity and egg quality.
• Nutrition Geek’s Magnesium 3 in 1 for improving insulin sensitivity, reduction of androgen levels, improvement in energy and sleep quality
• Vitamin D and K2 for insulin sensitivity, mood improvement (depression management), managing inflammation, ovarian function (Low vitamin D common in PMOS ladies directly correlates with high testosterone)
• Good quality Vitamin B complex for fatigue reduction
• Omega 3 AHA and DHA for heart health and cortisol reduction
• Turmeric and glucosamine sulphate for joint health and pain
Daily movement - running or walking and strength training.
I don’t post this to be a know it all or self righteous & I’m not a doctor, I just thought it might help someone who doesn’t know where to start and let us be honest... how many doctors actually seem to know anything about this condition? But always seek medical advice.
Having PMOS (PCOS) is so much more complicated than “having a cyst” and “having irregular periods” and it matters for more reasons than “yeah but are you trying to conceive?”
Having this condition comes with many complications that many people aren’t aware of:
- Cardiovascular complications such as heart disease and strokes
- Metabolic conditions such as diabetes
- Liver disease (even as a non drinker)
- Endometrial cancers
- Depression and anxiety
- Body image issues
- Eating disorders
- Sleep apnea
- Osteoporosis and poor bone health
- Fertility complications
Knowledge is power, don’t let anyone dismiss you BECAUSE IT IS JUST PART OF BEING A WOMAN. It isn’t and we deserve better.
Much love 🫶🏻
