Parents, this is why we don’t like some of you… 😐

I sent out an email today thanking students and parents for their patience and understanding with grading delays. All I meant by delays is that I would not be immediately grading something the exact same day it was turned in, not that I was way behind and missing grading deadlines or expectations.

I work as an online teacher and we are currently right in the middle of online exams. I, alone, have about 250+ students and students are required to come in person to take their final exams in our testing center while we proctor between the 14th-18th.

Because I am proctoring, I am not able to grade student work as I need to monitor students’ screens and check students in and out as they come in and finish their exams. It is the end of the year and my deadline for final grades is May 22nd at 3:00 PM. I promised students I would be accountable for that deadline and would make sure everything is graded and entered and locked by May 22nd, per the deadline.

I have sent about 12-15 emails as well as the course disclosure reminding students of end of term testing deadlines and submission deadlines since March. Students literally have until the end of the term at midnight (students term ends on May 18th, but we try to be flexible depending on circumstances) to finish their online courses.

This email just seemed ignorant and rude and as someone who works hard to get these kids support and to help them pass, this really PMO.
