I’m a hs student in America scouting for a potential career to focus my education on. I was told environmental is the job for me (I like the environment/plastic pollution and would love to do something relating to it). However, I have heard it is a very undesirable job with very low salaries. Your thoughts?

I’m not sure what I want to get into. I know everyone keeps telling me that I don’t need to know yet and it’s too soon, but I’m the type of person that NEEDS to have some sort of plan or idea to keep going. All I know is this:

- Was planning to become a doctor (neurologist) but realized that my only reason and motivation is money, so trying to find something else. I’m worried that money as a motivator might not be a good idea and will be a waste of money, stress, and time if it won’t work out. So maybe nothing too medicall-y (if that makes sense).
- Volunteered at a summer camp at a zoo once (for kids) and liked the responsibility given to me.
- Did a few school projects on the environment and plastic pollution, really enjoyed it.
- Work hands on (nothing too physical, ex: construction), with people, not always at a desk.
- Preferably no tech/computer stuff, sports, nothing too creative (I’m worried that my limited creativity will get in the way of my source of income),
- Shadowed a researcher, wad thinking maybe something similar but with the ability to worth with other researchers and something about the environment.
- Was thinking of a job within something of the following: environmental/climate, management, law-ish but not lawyer, researcher, or even something completely different.
- Preferably something with an average annual American salary of $150k-ish (hopefully nothing much lower than $100k).
- Planning to move to another state after college/undergrad (MN maybe).

I know this was A LOT just now but I have nowhere else to go and anything helps (just trying to get a grasp of things). THANK YOU 🙏 !!
