Commercial truck driver—can I be personally liable for accident claim years later if company insurance didn’t pay?

Location: Texas

A few years ago (about 3–4), I was working as a commercial truck driver in Texas when part of my load—an end cap attached to a pipe—came loose and struck another vehicle, causing damage.
At the time, I provided the other party with my employer’s insurance information and my contact details. The company is still in business.
Recently, I received a call from an attorney asking for my former employer’s information, which I provided. Around the same time, my wife mentioned that someone came to our home looking for me, possibly trying to serve legal papers.
If I do get served, what steps should I take? Could I be held personally liable even though I was working for the company and gave the correct insurance information at the time?
