are there certain styles or artists that folk go to see to see how mentally sound they are, as in will it not induce a bad trip in them?

I say this as someone who has only been into psytrance properly for 5 years, I guess, but I went to some festivals and ran into some artists that were unfortabky dark - I liked it - but I felt like it would send me down a hole... is that the point? genuinely curious, and if anyone has recommendations for me to check it out whilst sober, I'd love that, I'd just like to hear your thoughts :)
