NEU Fall 2026 Transfer
I’m kinda nervous for the next two waves of transfer decisions to come out, do I have a good chance at being accepted into D’amore McKim at Northeastern University?
I’m a first-year accounting major at a private four-year college with around a 45% acceptance rate specializing in business.
Academics:
I applied with a 3.76 but ended with a 3.62 cumulative after my second semester. I just emailed them my spring transcript because it has my core business classes like intro to accounting and microeconomics but I did well in those classes and ended with an A- in both.
High school GPA was around a 4.1 weighted, 3.5 unweighted. Took 4 APs but didn’t receive credit. Another big thing is that I haven’t taken calc and I couldn’t my first year but I’m taking it this summer.
ECS:
Two e-board positions as a freshmen rep for cultural orgs, a work-study, and an ambassador role for women in business. In high school I did DECA and won first place in my sector and AFJROTC where I received a few national awards. For volunteering, I’m an adult education teacher where I tutor immigrants and I was a rep for a cultural non profit that hosts large scale festivals. I’ve had a bookkeeping internship for a year and I just confirmed an offer for tax assistance for VITA next spring.
My essay was mostly on how I feel like my current school has a very insular setting and how it’s limiting my growth. I also talked a lot about the co-op program and a few other orgs I would take advantage of at NEU. I got three rec letters, one was from my Econ professor.
I’m mostly worried about my GPA as it’s not really up in that competitive range along with my lack of a college-level math course. I got deferred back in high school and I ended up withdrawing my app when I committed to my current school.
