I have history of drug abuse, will this be a problem in MEPS?
Hey everyone, so over the last couple of years i’ve been thinking of joining the military (Army specifically) & just recently i started studying for the ASVAB & plan on going to see my recruiter & take the practice test then hopefully the real one.
For some background ive been diagnosed with ADD since elementary school & have been on Vyvanse & Adderall since in can remember (I’m 25 now for reference). I stopped taking them when i graduated college in 2023 & then started back up on them when i secured my first career oriented position. I’ve been doing some research over the years & found out last year that i wouldn’t be able to join if i had been on my meds so i’ve taken a year off from them in order to qualify to enlist, it also came to my knowledge that when they would do drug screen panels to make sure im not taking other drugs while im on my meds that they were also screening for marijuana. I’ve been smoking for the last 10 years & also stopped a year ago after i was deciding on joining but im worried since its on my drug abuse panels that they'll permanently disqualify me & i wont be able to join. Any help or info would be greatly appreciate. :)
