REJECTION residential scholarship and ICCA part 2

I’m currently trying to figure out my best route for Part 2 of the Bar Course and would love advice from those who’ve been through similar situations. I’m debating between commuting from my family home in Cheltenham to Bristol for ULAW twice a week which would mean about four hours of commuting on those days, or sticking with ICCA.

My challenge is balancing that commute with maximizing opportunities like FRU volunteering, pupillage fairs, interviews (I had two second-rounds in London last year), and open evenings. For those who’ve navigated this, how did you weigh up location, course choice, and balancing these opportunities? Any practical tips would be appreciated!

Gray’s Residential Scholarship Rejection and ICCA Part 2

I got rejected from the Gray’s Inn residential scholarship, and I’m really struggling to figure out how to fund my living costs for Part 2 of the ICCA Bar Course. I wanted to ask, what have others done in similar situations?

Right now, I have two options. I live at home in Cheltenham, and I could commute to Bristol for ULaw twice a week, but that would mean around four hours of commuting on those days, starting at 7am (2 hours there, 2 hours back).

My other option is to continue with ICCA, but I’m stuck on how to fund Part 2. Does anyone have advice? Does the school choice matter much? What would you recommend if you’ve been through this?

Also, I really wanted to be in London to make use of other opportunities, continuing my FRU work, visiting chambers, going to open evenings, attending pupillage interviews (I had two second-rounds last year in London), and going to pupillage fairs. How do people manage this situation?
