Becoming a donor

Hi all,

Thank you for sending me pictures of your scars in my previous post. As I mentioned, I am going through the beginning process of seeing if I can be a donor. My transplant team needs to discuss if I can donate because I have Lichen Planus (an autoimmune disorder similar to lupus minus the organ affliction). I have wanted to be a living donor for about a decade but now that I am actually in the process I’m feeling a bit of trepidation. For those who have donated, were you always 100% confident that you wanted to do it? I’m sure it’s normal because it is a major surgery and I need to think realistically about my life post surgery. I feel bad that I’m sometimes questioning if I want to do it, my family is supportive that it’s my decision to do it but also doesn’t really want me to so that weighs on me as well

Liver donor scars

Hi all, I am in the process of seeing if I qualify to be a liver donor. I really want to do it but I’m also thinking about the lifelong scars, is anyone willing to post some healed scar photos? I know there are a couple different options for surgery depending on what hospital does it and how much of your liver is being taken so scars can vary. TIA
