The main character is a boy who is deaf in one ear, and I remember in one part of the book. He says that he doesn’t mind it because when he doesn’t wanna listen to someone or in class, he can just sleep on the ear he hears through.
in the book, they definitely see the northern lights at some point and so they live in some area where the northern lights are present.
I’m almost 100% sure the mom in the book her favorite song is space oddity by david bowey
