Hi all. I recently purchased a 1987 js650sx. Before taking it out, I threw in fresh plugs (after taking the pictures above) and a new battery. I am having some idling issues and bogging at about half throttle right now. I also noticed that there was fuel inside the flame arrestor after riding for about 30 minutes.
The previous owner told me it sat for two years so I'm thinking I'm thinking it's time to check the carb. I was told the fuel lines were recently replaced, the compression is 150/150, and the ski is setup for premix. It has a Mikuni BN44 round body carb on it currently.
I was wondering if I should be replacing it entirely with a the newer SBN44, or if I should just rebuild the existing carb. I have seen some mixed reviews online about it so I was hoping for some guidance. The fuel in the flame arrestor is also alarming so I'm wondering where else I should be focusing my attention. This is my first standup so I'm trying to learn as much as possible! Any advice, links to other forums, or youtube videos are appreciated.
