Unsafe assignment

I knew things could get bad out there but didn’t realize it was THIS bad. Usually work at level 1 or 2 but came to this teeny hospital to switch things up/they were paying the most. Just finished my first 3 shifts. I had one unstable icu pt (they said it was stepdown but she was on cont bipap 100% fio2 for three days) along with three other patients. Discharged one and admitted another each day. Worst part is I was the only nurse in that section and there was only one other nurse working with me. One day she was an LPN ( no hate to LPNs) but then I had to hang her blood push metoprolol and do her admission assessment on top of my own assignment.

Now normally I’d just cancel right away but I’m not on good terms with my agency who is one of the 3 large vendors. It was for a petty reason - no patient harm or anything. And for this contract I ended up in the hospital for my first real shift and needed my days moved around and just feel like a pain in the ass. I’m afraid if I cancel this one I’d be blacklisted losing out on a lot of contracts.

I was thinking about trying to talk to the clinical nurse manager or whatever at my agency directly to explain how bad it is there and maybe that would help?

My 5 year old labradoodle slipped out of her harness about 30 minutes ago. Last seen around 11:30pm around Swedish cherry hill. Her name is Phoebe. She’s very friendly. I’m currently driving around looking for her but please please let me know if you see her. My phone number is 4847168215.

Hey, so need some advice. I just started a new contract last week at a critical access hospital, so obviously in the middle of nowhere. I’ve been having some health issues recently. So I drove to the nearest big city (~2 1/2 hrs away) for an appointment. They sent me to the ED and they want me to stay another night for observation. My dilemma is that I’m supposed to have my first shift off orientation tomorrow. I know health comes first but I really need the money and can’t risk losing this contract by calling off. Would this be legal for them to end my contract over?
