I keep hearing people talk about GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and geo-optimized content, but I can’t quite put my finger on how it is supposed to work. Sure, I understand the concept of generating optimized content for AI-powered search and answer engines, instead of just SEO, but that’s pretty much all I do get.
Is geo-optimized content about making your articles answer questions, or does it include a particular approach, such as structured format, entities, schema, conversational format, or something else entirely? Furthermore, is geo-optimized content fundamentally different from “good SEO content”?
In other words, what I am looking for is a particular formula for optimized content that will help with visibility in AI-generated results, such as featured answers, summaries, and so on.
Unfortunately, it seems like there’s still a lot of speculation on what constitutes “good content”, and I’d like to avoid optimizing the wrong way.
- From those of you who’ve actually had success with GEO content:
- How does the geo-optimized content differ from non-geo content?
- Is there any structure that works consistently?
- What was the biggest factor that improved visibility?
