guys i might sound retarded but is there any way i can install new distro and uninstalling my olddistro without losing any data, im on dual boot with windows also my external drive is full

can someone explain me why am i not being able to use config my panel using panel colorizer even if i add the wdiget i dont see the option for it it wont respond to my clicks aswell
