Is there a way to get a new casing and a new scroll wheel to make it look more like the iPod? I figured someone would have a 3D print of the casing and I wanna use aluminum (I’ll order it off of a website that delivers custom metal cut stuff)
I’m 18, and I do not want Spotify premium, or Apple Music (I am on my dads plan, but when I won’t be on there anymore, I don’t want to “own nothing and be happy”).
I have had experiences with the iPod Video; it was nice. However, the way the Y1 looks reminds me it isn’t an iPod, and considering how absurd the prices are for a 15 year old product; I do not want to burn my money on outdated technology.
I have had MP3 players in the past, but they weren’t like the iPod, except for this one.
I have had plans on modding an iPod when I get one. However, that would probably be a waste of money.
I heard of the Y1, and thought it was a cheap and generic brand, but when I saw how much people loved it, I got into it, and now I have plans for it, but I need to be reassured that it will be worth it in the end.
Here are my modifications I wish to apply to the Y1
• 512GB MicroSD card (I have one as a spare for any device)
• Rockbox Firmware
•Battery upgrade
• Change the spin wheel to make it look like the iPod
I need to have a way to grab metadata for the songs I’m gonna drop into the MP3, like the album picture, title name, artist, and album. I also need a way to make the ui look cool.
