ELI5, using as Theoretical Physicists as an example, when they perform calculations how do they translate their equations into physical "reality"?
I find it hard to articulate this clearly, but essentially I'm asking how these geniuses translate calculations and numbers to visualise the movement of particles and such...basically reality, in what we actually see. Obviously it's not just theoretical physicists but other fields such as astrophysicists, cosmologists, mathematical biologists.
Do the maths and the "real world visualisation" happen simultaneously in their head, or is it a separate process?
