One can dream… Imagine the sit-ins during the Primus set? Still have Hoffman be the predominant drummer (because he’s absolutely killing it) but one Brown/Antipop song a set with Brain and one Naugahyde tune with Jayski per set, and then a massive encore with 3 drummers on stage. I personally thought that Holy Mackerel sounded great at the 2024 Claypool Gold shows.

1989: Todd and Jay left Primus, Brain replaced Jay briefly but quits the band because of a skateboarding competition. Enter Ler and Herb…

1994: Despite both Jay and Todd leaving Les, he invites them to form Sausage

1997: Herb leaves Primus, enter Brain for round 2. Unfortunately this lineup implodes the band

2000: Les moves on to The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. Todd and Jay both get invited back, and Herb is also rotated in as a drummer. Les also works with Brain again for C2B3 during the hiatus

2003: Primus reforms with Herb on drums and ultimately ends up leaving Primus for a second time.

2009: Although Jay has left Les before, he is invited back for the next era of Primus. Stays for a while and leaves… again….

2013: Herb enters his 3rd stint with Primus (and we all know how that ends).

Now hear me out, I love Todd, Brain, Herb, and Jay… BUT the point I’m trying to make is that Ler has ALWAYS been there for Les through thick and thin. Was there any bad blood between Les and Ler during the 2000-2003 hiatus? Seeing that he was collaborating with Todd, Jay, Herb, and Brain during that 3 year period… Sorry for the history lesson (exact dates may be off but it’s meant to be a quick discussion post).
