How common is it to be low key in love with your therapist
I (20s F) recently started seeing a therapist (female) who is relatively close to me in age, about 8-10 years older maybe. I don't like using labels for sexual orientation and have never been interested in putting myself in a box like that but I have always been attracted to both men and women. I have had more experiences with men and currently in a long-term committed relationship with one but there has also been a fair share of hook-ups with other girls. Long story short, I have developed a huge crush on my therapist and have intense fantasies about hooking up with her to the point that I look forward to seeing her and count down the days to our next session. I know this is wrong and I would never act on it obviously but she is consuming my thoughts and I wanted to see if others have experienced anything similar. I imagine it is quite normal to become pretty obsessed with a therapist given the nature of the relationship.
Also, therapists, do you ever feel attracted to your clients but have to obviously keep it secret? Do you have a favorite client that you look forward to seeing? To what extent do you become invested in your clients' lives and want to find out their news/updates? And, last one, and I have always wondered this, therapy is a judgement-free zone etc but you are human too, so you think to yourself that you like or dislike a client based on what they tell you?
