The families belonging to Chitalnar village in Sukma have been facing harassment by Hindutva groups, including villagers who are part of these groups, Maktoob has learnt.

Speaking to Maktoob, Sagar, who has been helping the families move, alleged that the police have refused to take any steps and have further allowed the mob to aggravate the situation. “Despite numerous complaints, the police have refused to take any action forcing the families to leave their homes,” he added.

Christian families have faced severe targeted assaults, social boycotts, and displacement in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

About 10 Christian families in the village were assaulted by a mob in March 2026, with Hindutva groups demanding “ghar wapsi” (forced conversion to Hinduism) for the families. At the time of the assault, two people were also hospitalised.

Banned from entering village

While the families were forced to leave due to constant pressure and violence, the gram panchayat, in a letter to police officials, said that the families had willingly left and were officially banned from entering the village. In July 2026, the Gram Panchayat of Chitalnar prepared a formal written notice addressed to the Station House Officer of Puspal Police Station. The notice was signed by the Upsarpanch, adopted by the Gram Sabha, and countersigned by village residents.

The letter, which Maktoob saw, read: “Some families have accepted Christianly, which the village has not accepted. We held a meeting and decided peacefully that the families convert back to Hinduism. However, on 5 March 2026, they left the village themselves. The gram panchayat of Chitlanagar will not allow anyone from Christian faith to enter the village. If anyone tries to enter the village and if any incident happens, it will not be our responsibility.”

I don't know why some people have this weird psychological wiring that casteism will end only with intercaste marriages and with intercaste marriages they mean with oppressor castes..

It won't change a thing in the system and will benefit only oppressor community as they will marry only a well established or pretty looking dalit or obc and they will sanskritise him/her and their offsprings as well. It's only crony capitalism in a social setting. It's not a practical solution, also it harms ambedkarite movement.

I'll make a detailed explanation later but see what's brewing within oppressor community and just one incident, these narratives will be on mainstream.
