PSA Comic Grading Hates You
CGC is now the ONLY choice
For anyone considering PSA for comic grading after the CBCS shutdown:
I had a $60 credit with CBCS when Collectors (PSA’s parent company) chose to close CBCS rather than continue its comic grading service.
Because of multiple moves and a death in the family, I hadn’t used the credit yet, but it was still valid at the time CBCS was ended.
I spent nearly an hour on hold and waited over a month for a written response, only to be told PSA could not “technically” access my credit and that no alternative accommodation would be offered (emailed March 30th, as soon as I was aware of the CBCS announced closure).
My request was not about the mechanics of transferring a balance, but about any good‑faith gesture, honoring the $60 in some form, or providing any reasonable way to try PSA’s service without starting from a loss.
In my experience, PSA and its related entities showed no interest in working with a former CBCS customer or preserving that prior value, so I’ll be taking my grading business elsewhere and sharing these facts so others can make an informed choice.
