1 Lakh KM Tata Nexon EV Ownership: 2 Battery Replacements, 5 Breakdowns, Now ₹1L+ AC Failure
I bought my Tata Nexon EV in February 2023. I’ve also owned an MG ZS EV since 2021, which has done 1.5 lakh kms without a single major issue. That experience made me trust EVs completely.
But my Nexon has been the exact opposite.
The car has clocked around 1 lakh kms so far, and it has left me stranded on the road at least 5 times. The HV battery has already been replaced 2 times under warranty.
This latest incident has been the worst one yet. The car threw an “HV Critical Alert” and was sitting at the service center for 15 days because the replacement battery wasn’t available.
Today, I finally got a call saying the battery replacement was completed… but now apparently the AC system has failed after the repair. They’re saying the entire AC assembly needs replacement — compressor, chiller, cooling components, everything.
Estimated bill? Over ₹1 lakh.
The best part: the car is now out of warranty.
I genuinely don’t understand how replacing the HV battery suddenly leads to a complete AC system failure. Currently fighting this out with Tata Motors while the car continues to sit at the workshop.
At this point, I honestly regret buying this car.
