Hip Pain

Fairly new runner here, started in January with low mileage to train for a half marathon, have ran two half marathons since then with slowly increasing mileage per week 10%. I have weight trained for over three years. Felt great during both half’s and honestly throughout the majority of my training. Recently, I started having some L hip pain but very tolerable. I did do a tempo run a little over 2 weeks ago, which definitely hurt if a little more, but still felt fine. Continued with easy runs, however at the end of that week my last run completely took all I had- L hip with sharp pains that altered my gait. After the run, I could not even lift that leg when in seated position. Obviously I began a week rest period- started with pain with walks/ raising leg/stairs/ etc, so I limited as much movement as I could to recover. Within ~3 days, I was able to walk with just a small ache. Within ~5 days I could do stairs/ walk comfortably, however any isolated load definitely caused more pain. I have been stretching hips with isometric movement 3x a day for gluteus medius/ hip flexor focus as this * seems* to be where it is. During recovery, my knee has bothered me randomly, but I do assume this is from my altered gait. It’s been 10 days now of rest- have continued cycling/ weight training/ walks. Has anyone had anything similar? I am an OT so I have some background knowledge with body mechanics, but I feel so nervous to try another run, but I really wanna start as soon as I * healthily* can, as I am training for a full marathon.

My husband and I are trying to plan a safari trip to Kenya (and surrounding areas) in September. Does anyone have recommendations for a 7 day guided safari for ~2500 pp (NOT including flights)? We are definitely fine with it being “budget”, but would like to go through a company that is all inclusive for airport transfers, meals, lodging, etc. would love any personal experiences!

thanks!
