Warning to RCM companies buying leads from Billing Service Leads / 7Connects LLC

Just wanted to share my experience for any RCM or medical billing companies thinking about buying leads from Billing Service Leads / 7Connects LLC.

I was looking into purchasing leads for my RCM company and was told by the salesperson that the leads would be exclusive to us.

But when I reviewed the contract, I did not see anything that clearly said the leads were exclusive. That was my first red flag.

The contract also says something along the lines that many leads may have requested information from other competitors. To me, that sounds like the leads may not actually be exclusive. And when I spoke to the sales rep, he said I can't guarantee anything cause of "blah blah blah" was just speaking quickly and trying to do what sales people do - talk a lot and sound like he knows what he's saying until I just said "oh ok, that makes sense." Basically he said that he sees it's exclusive from his side, but can't show it to us and can't make any promises either that the lead is exclusive but trust him.

A few other red flags I noticed:

  • No clear exclusivity language
  • No real guarantee that the leads are qualified
  • No guarantee that you will reach the person
  • No guarantee that the lead is actually a good fit
  • Very limited refund/replacement protection
  • Strong chargeback penalty language
  • They ask for ACH/bank authorization
  • The agreement seems very one-sided in their favor

I’m not saying they are a scam because I did not move forward, but the contract gave me enough concern to pause.

If you're an RCM company or medical billing company thinking about buying leads from them, make sure you read the agreement carefully and get everything in writing before paying.

The sales person told me a lot of things I wanted to hear on the phone and then in the contract, none of that was mentioned. Just be careful.

Especially if they tell you the leads are exclusive, make sure the contract says that clearly.

Do not rely on what a salesperson tells you over the phone.

My Upwork account got suspended today out of nowhere and I’m honestly pretty pissed. No warning either, only way I found out was a potential client messaged saying “hello” and when I went to reply it showed the suspension.

They told me:

“You appear to have created multiple accounts after your prior account was permanently blocked due to Terms of Service violations.”

The problem is... none of that is true.

I didn’t create multiple accounts and I definitely didn’t violate their terms.

I do own my own RCM company that helps medical practices with billing and revenue cycle needs, so in my proposals I mentioned my company to give credibility since I’m newer on Upwork and don’t yet have reviews or earnings there.

I never linked my website.
I never pushed anyone off-platform.
I never tried to collect payment outside Upwork.
Everything stayed within their system with milestones, pricing, and proposals.

Now I’m suspended, over $300 deep in Connects, and all 15+ proposals I submitted got withdrawn.

Such a stupid experience.

I already submitted an appeal, but this whole thing makes me look unprofessional to potential clients if my account does get restored and I have to reapply.

Has anyone dealt with this before?
Any advice on getting this overturned?
