Landlord Delays Signing Lease (Ann Arbor, MI)
Hi all, I signed my lease and paid my security deposit two weeks ago. Before paying the security deposit, my leasing agent was texting me back immediately guiding me through the process. After paying the security deposit, not one response. I texted twice asking for a receipt for my security deposit and for them to send me a copy of the lease with their signatures. I checked digisigner yesterday, and saw they still hadn’t signed. At that point, I decided it would be best to back out. I sent an email formally requesting to withdraw my application and for the security deposit to be returned within 10 days. They emailed back first thing this morning explaining that they can’t let me do that, and sent me the signed lease. There’s no language in the lease regarding how long the landlord has to sign after I sign.
If I take this to small claims court, am I likely to get my security deposit refunded?
